Susanna Kaysen had written the book Girl, Interrupted twenty-five years after the fact, the author describes the two years during her early adult hood in which she "slipped into a parallel universe." The unusual nature of the experience is reflected in events that seemed funny to her of her inner life, the other patients, their families, the staff, and of journeys into the outside world.
